Paragraph Form
Lesson 1
A paragraph is a body of sentences about one topic. It is like a train. Each sentence connects to each other. But the format for paragraphs is very strict.
- The first sentence of a paragraph comes after an empty space called an indentation. This makes it easy for people to see where a paragraph begins and to locate a specific paragraph.
- The left margin, the line on the left, is never crossed.
- The title line is the first line at the top of the paper. Your title should be placed in the center of this line.
- The right margin is more relaxed than the left. It can be difficult to see because it is printed on the other side of your paper. If you start a word before the right margin, you can cross it to finish the word. However, you must not start a new word after the right margin.
- In school, we will ask you to write on every other line. That means that you write a line, jump a line, and then write again. This makes it easier to read and allows teachers to have space to make corrections.
