Congratulations!I congratulate everyone for their hard work these last 3 months!
We studied comparative adverbs, the present perfect, preposition combinations/gerunds, 1st conditional, and present perfect continuous. We read and learned vocabulary from the following stories: Fashion, To Spank or Not to Spank, Body Art, Fat Frank and Sniff. The majority of the class was able to be promoted to level 4! In particular, there are a few students I feel compelled to recognize: first, Maria, Flor, and Evia. These three students demonstrated such a high level of motivation, curiosity, focus, and generosity in the class. They always brought a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards the exercises and were patient and generous helping others students who were struggling in partner or group work. I was also touched by the caring Norma showed when she took time to help some of our senior students. Next, I bring your attention to the gentleman in the back: Elder. Elder flew through every exercise, always led in participation, and brought his confident energy to our group. One student who I saw make tremendous growth was Eva. I had difficulty reaching her at the beginning of class, but as time went on, I got her attention, she absorbed the lessons, and her attitude towards technology changed from one of fear and skepticism to one of interest, competence, and self-empowerment! It's a gift for a teacher to see a student leave your class not just with a better understanding of English, but a great sense of self-confidence as well. I also thank Ana and Antonia for bringing their enthusiasm, curiosity, and trusting attitude to the group. If they didn't have the confidence to ask me questions when they were confused, many other students who were confused but too shy to saying anything, might not have gotten the help they needed. When they asked for clarification, it is a sign of trust to me that they believed I could make things clearer to them. This feedback also helps me improve my lessons and explanations. But our class was special because of everyone who became part of us: Margarita and Tony, our incredibly dedicated elder scholars, Karla, Alejandra, Fozi, Deborah, Roxana, Susan, Maricela (who started out so shy but because of her dedication, ended up one of the highest performing students), Alberto (brilliant, who needed to leave class to start his own business), Iris, Martha, Hae Kyong, Yanci, Edilia, and Yeni! Have a wonderful, safe, happy, and healthy summer! Practice your English! See you at school August 12!
